Cystic Fibrosis
One in 25 people in the United States carries a genetic mutation
for cystic fibrosis (CF), an inherited disease that affects the
lungs, digestive system, sweat glands, and male fertility through
a condition called CBAVD. Genetic testing
for CF can determine whether you are a carrier, and if so, understand
your chances of passing the CF mutation on to a child. Another possibility
is that an early diagnosis of CF can result in early treatment and
the enactment of preventive measures. DNA
Direct offers genetic testing for CF mutations. The cost is
$260.
