CBAVD
Congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens (CBAVD) causes
male infertility and may occur in
those who have cystic fibrosis or in isolation. CBAVD refers to
the improper development of the tube through which sperm are released
from the testes. CBAVD is present at birth, but most men do not
become aware of it until they have difficulty with fertility. CBAVD
accounts for 1 to 2 percent of male infertility, and 98 percent
of men with Cystic Fibrosis are
born with CBAVD. Men with CBAVD have a number of options to help
them conceive with their partners... see your doctor. DNA
Direct offers genetic testing for men with CBAVD. The cost is
$260.
